Flipkart launches five more self-branded tablets

Flipkart-logoE-commerce marketplace Flipkart has launched five new tablets under its Digiflip Pro brand. The new range of tablets will be powered by Intel Atom processors and include the 7” Wi-Fi only ET701, the 8” Wi-Fi only XT811, its 3G variant XT801, the 8.9” Wi-Fi only XT911 and its 3G variant XT901. Each of the tablets comes with an IPS display, dual camera and expandable storage. The tablets are priced between Rs 5999 and Rs 13999.

The company had forayed into self-branded tablets back in June this year when it release the Digiflip Pro XT712, a 7-inch Android tablet.

Housing.com updates its iOS app

Housing LogoOnline real estate portal Housing.com has revamped its Housing App for iPhone and iPad devices. The new app’s map view has been simplified and is now completely gesture based. The app now also uses the parallax effect to display information such as ratings, location and amenities together instead of clumping it on one page. The ratings are assigned by the company and display information based on the locality, lifestyle and society rating of the property. The amenities section is also decluttered with only four major amenities on display with the others hidden in a more section.

The portal had previously raised Rs 115 crore investment from Helion Venture partners, Qualcomm Ventures and others in June this year.

Evernote seeking strategic partnerships in India

evernoteSilicon Valley based notetaking app maker Evernote is in talks with Indian software companies to forge strategic alliances and plans to open its first office in the country, reports The Economic Times. The company said it would look at some non-conventional partnerships to launch some ‘firsts’ in the country along with a tie-up with a local payment gateway to offer options to pay through debit cards or net banking since the only current option is to pay via credit cards.

Evernote currently has OEM partnerships with Micromax, Panasonic and Spice Mobile in India which offers three months of free subscription to evernote on devices manufactured by these companies. The company also partnered the Bangalore based Innoz technology to let users access its web app via SMS and the cloud-based offline search engine CloudMagic.

U2opia Mobile ropes in Hari Krishnan as board member

U2opia LogoThe Managing Director of Asia Pacific and Japan at LinkedIn, Hari Krishnan has joined the board of directors at Singapore-based mobile applications company U2opia Mobile, reports Techcircle.

Krishnan had joined LinkedIn back in 2009 as the country manager for India and was promoted to MD for APAC and Japan in early 2013. Prior to LinkedIn, Krishnan had co-founded the e-boutique Stylkist and worked for companies like Travelguru, Fox Interactive Media, Cisco Systems and Yahoo India.

North Goa tourist taxi owners association plans to go online

The North Goa tourist taxi owners association (NGTTOA) is planning to take its business online, reports The Times of India. The venture, which is currently limited to North Goa taxis, is in the process of convincing its 2500 odd members to adopt the online solution. The association expects to start the service by mid-October.

The main challenge faced by NGTTOA in implementing its plan is getting its 350 members in Ashvem, Arambol, Pernem and Morjim areas to agree to uniform service rates. The association is currently looking to setup an office for its new venture and is considering seeking help from the government to complete the project.
